Followings are the places where crash landings may take place and we have to survive. Somehow with the available ways and means including utilizing the contents of the survival kit and items brought from the a/c.
a. Sea survival
b. Desert survival
c. Jungle survival
d. Winter survival
a. The sea is a vast, lonely and inhospitable place for surviving but man can survive on sea by knowing and learning from previous sea survivors and by effectively using the survival equipments with the life rafts.
b. The desert is the most difficult of all survival environments. But many people have survived in it. Do not rush around to do everything at once. Get into the shade if any and wait until sundown. Rule for survival in the desert is “do not ration your water but ration your sweat.”
c. The winter survival in cold regions present serious problems to survivors, the greatest of which is death from exposure. It is therefore, essential to gather together large number of people in a confined place and conserve heat and energy. The extreme cold condition may act as a spoiler to a crash site fire. The a/c fuselage will provide the best form of shelter and do not evacuate from the a/c unless there is risk of after crash fire.
d. The Jungle survival is the easiest and the most convenient since there is an abundant supply of food and water. The biggest hazards are panic and the risk of ill-health caused by insects and plant life. It is one environment where you may elect to leave the a/c and do various jobs by dividing survivors into many groups of people specially sending signals for your location. But as a general recommendation, stay in the vicinity of the a/c and activate the ERB.
